We've come up with a variety of different walks just a stones throw from Long Ashes Park, each one varying in length and ability, so you're sure to find one that suits you!

LONG ASHES GROUNDS | Estimated Time: 30 Minutes | Length: Approx. 0.9 Miles

GK Inn External

First off we have a wander around the grounds which is ideal for those who don't have a full afternoon to dedicate to a walk.

Facing The Gamekeeper’s Inn turn right down ‘The Drive’ follow ‘Hillside Drive’ to ‘Mosedale’. You will arrive at a gate with a path through a field bearing left. Follow this path around the circumference of the park. Follow this path over rolling moorland keeping Long Ashes Park on your left at all times.

Keep following the path down and left and you will eventually see a stone-wall entrance back into the caravan end of Long Ashes Park. Follow this road taking your second left turn to arrive back at The Gamekeeper’s Inn. This walk is ideal for that perfect afternoon stroll during the summer months or to stretch your legs and enjoy some stunning Yorkshire Dales vistas.

CONISTONE DIB & CONISTONE PIE | Estimated Time: 1-2 Hours | Length: Approx. 2.5 Miles

A 5-minute drive from Long Ashes Park, this walk is graded as easy and climbs 168 metres in total.

Starting from the village of Conistone, you ascend the name-sake fells of the village. Featuring Limestone gorges, fell top hiking and panoramic views of Yorkshire, this route provides a big reward for relatively little effort.

GRASSINGTON LEAD MINING TRAIL | Estimated Time: 2 Hours | Length: Approx. 2.9 Miles

Grassington Trail

If you are interested in seeing some of the working History of the Yorkshire Dales, then this route starting from Grassington is for you.

Just 5 minutes away from Long Ashes Park you climb only 125 metres total following the trail of the now abandoned Grassington Lead Mines. The region was most active between 1820 and 1860 when over 20,000 tons of lead was mined from the landscape.

CONISTONE DIB & MOSSDALE SCAR | Estimated Time: 4-5 Hours | Length: Approx. 9.6 Miles

A much longer walk with a climb of nearly 500 metres!

You will visit 2 of the most underrated spots in the Wharfedale region of the dales.

Coniston Dib is an exciting climb through narrow limestone pillars and a dry valley with just a bit of scrambling.

Mossdale scar is your finish point. This is also known the Mossdale Beck, which flows under-ground and does not come back above ground ever again from this point.

The walk continues with a gentle walk across classic Yorkshire moorland back to Grassington. For a detailed route and pictures of this walk, click here.

KILNSEY TO MALHAM TARN | Estimated Time: 6-7 Hours | Length: Approx. 14.2 Miles

If you are looking to do some serious walking in the Dales, this route is for you.

You’ll climb 630 metres during the day and visit some superb spots and a few hidden gems too. A walk ideal for the wetter winter months but just as enjoyable during the rest of the year.

Malham Tarn is a beautiful spot and keep an eye out for the stunning waterfalls of Cote Gill. You’ll pass Kilnsey Crag at the finish which is a dominating natural feature popular with rock-climbers.
