We absolutely LOVE hosting your weddings here at The Gamekeeper's Inn and creating a day that's perfect for you is a wonderful feeling. So we've asked some of our brides to relive their special day with us by filling out a little questionnaire so we could share a little bit of the magic with you too!

Please tell us yours and your husbands names Laura & Andrew

The date of your wedding with us? 17th April 2019

Tell us how you met? We met on a flying training squadron

How did he or she propose? On a romantic walk in the New Forest.

What was the theme for your day, and did you have a colour scheme? We had tartan kilts as I am Scottish

Where did you hold your ceremony? Saint Giles church

Why did you choose The Gamekeeper’s Inn as your reception venue? The photos on the website looked beautiful.

When did you know you had found THE dress? I told the bridal store exactly what I wanted and they found the perfect dress for me.

Who were your bridesmaids and what did they wear? My two best friends are very different people but both very important people in my life, they wore slightly different dresses in the same shade of purple.

Tell us about your floral arrangements I sent a picture of a bouquet of flowers that Andrew had sent me when I moved to England to be closer to him after a posting to Elichia at Hare and Howl and she picked out every single element. (Including thistles for our Scottish theme)

Tell us about the personal touches you added to the day We played a wedding song in Scottish Gaelic as I entered the church then had some very dear friends and family do our readings in the church service and another friend sing for us. We also had tartan on the chair covers for the reception.

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle? I felt very grateful and incredibly blessed and happy!

What was the most memorable moment of your day? We loved every single moment so it's very hard to choose. Walking down the aisle, the ceilidh and the food!

Which song did you choose for your first dance and why? ‘Faithfully’ by Journey because we felt it represented our vows to each other especially since Andrew will be deployed and I will be home with our child(ren). And I always loved that song.

Which food and drinks did you choose to provide for your guests on the day? Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings. Peroni and prosecco on arrival, red and white wine for the tables and whiskey for the toasts.

Tell us about your wedding cake We had an amazing 3 tier cake with tartan ribbons matching the kilts and cascading roses in the same shades of purple. There was a pink champagne, a chocolate and a sponge layer.

What music and entertainment did you have on the day? A local ceilidh band called The Riot Band.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? Carcassonne in France.

What was the most challenging aspect of planning your wedding? Signing documents remotely with Andrew out of the country and arranging banns to be read in 3 different parishes.

Was there anything you wish you had known before? We didn't realise that the venue was located in the middle of a private holiday home park.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding? Don't stress about every minor detail and enjoy every minute of the day as it goes by so quickly! We barely had enough time to speak with each of our guests properly and we didn't have a huge number.

A short review... "We would highly recommend The Gamekeeper's Inn as a wedding venue, it was perfect and Angela was not only super helpful but also lovely from our first enquiry all the way through to the wedding itself and the food was incredible!"
